I was surprised by people criticizing use of a grazing muzzle on my green guard muzzle initial impression video So lets just get this out of the way

Horses get medical conditions. This one has one. If you think you can do better and adhere to cushings guidelines for him, I might lease him to a great home! (1.5 years later, crickets, sigh)

He has cushings. One needs to limit sugar spikes just like diabetes. I give him meds, special diet, and he is one of the lucky ones that he gets to go out and do limited grazing. If this is not done it leads to severe disability/sickness and ☠️

The alternative is what is called a dry lot. Its a small pen w dirt, sand or other alternative flooring. Some ppl keep horses in dry lot in hot weather w no fan or shelter - alone

So now you why a muzzle is needed at times.

Now for the horse ppl

He loves this one. We are a couple mos in w no durability problems. He is not running away at muzzle time and he seems to like the extra nose fly control. The other horses fo not mind it which was not the case w harder one I probably should not have went to 1.25 enlargement, a bit less as there is no problem getting grass.

Update: I think 1.5 years later. It’s still fine. He doesnt mind it. Once again, they could improve the halter’s softness. For Some reason, this year our other horse decided he has had enough dry lot and tore down the electric. So we just went with it and knock on wood, he seems better outside. I could be wrong, but he Looks and acts good, seems much happier and lost some weight.

Ps. Anyone need a buddy for their cushings good natured horse? Gentle and trail ready but so out of shape. Probably best outting around. These animals are breaking me!
