For this piece I wanted to make it a little more realistic. I takes much more time than the version I did in the last video, but the layered striations really make it look realistic. The other thing that really help in bringing natural life into this piece was the 1 part black paint to 2 parts floetrol mixture. It refilled the lines, gave them motion, and added it those subtle streaks that i tried so long to figure out how to get! Using a clear or lacquer spray is a must if you're trying to get that natural burn look where the rock flares red. Something happens when it dries on the film and give it that heated look. the big thing about labradorites is their shiny backgrounds and layered lines so those are the thing to focus on when doing a labradorite painting.
