Finnish national railway company VR Edm sleeper train lower floor cabin tour

Описание: A short cabin tour of Finnish national railway company VR double-decker sleeper wagon (VR designation Edm) cabin 111/112 at Helsinki Ilmala railyard as car wagons are being shunted to train as it departs towards Rovaniemi and Kemijärvi. This video was shot on August 2025. This is the smaller lower deck 3.3 m2 cabin that does not includes any private toilet or shower. There are two beds in the cabin and the upper bed can be accessed by fixed steps. The perks include two small water bottles and towels. Bedsheets are prepared by the rail operator.

VR has operated a total of approximately 50 Edm series sleeper wagons in their overnight services since 2006. The wagons are utilized in trains between large cities in Southern Finland, namely Helsinki, Tampere and Turku and notable destinations in Northern Finland that include Oulu, Rovaniemi, Kemijärvi and Kolari. The night trains with sleeper wagons are usually accompanied with car-carrier wagons and restaurant wagon. The Edm wagon has 19 two-bed cabins, of which eight are quipped with toilet-shower are located in the upper level of the car. On lower level there are eight cabins and on mezzanine level there are three cabins with access to two shared toilets and a single shared shower. One of the cabins is equipped for handicapped, additional one for animal carriage and three of the lower level cabins can be combined with divider door as demonstrated in this video.
