This video provides an overview of the drug-nutrient interaction between warfarin and vitamin K.

You’ll learn about how vitamin K plays a role in blood clotting, how warfarin inhibits the vitamin K cycle to reduce blood clotting, and why it’s necessary to find an appropriate balance of both to avoid unwanted clotting and bleeding.

You’ll also see the major food sources of vitamin, the appropriate amount of vitamin K for patients on warfarin to consume, and my approach to providing diet education on this topic.
