The Sierra Nevada region is simply gorgeous, but when you see the peaks covered in snow, it’s literally the icing on the cake.
Our first glimpse of the snowy peaks was during our visit to Alhambra in April 2025, where the mountains provided an excellent backdrop to the awesome presence of the fortress.
We hadn’t planned to visit the ski resort; however, while driving in the hills from Monachil, the views kept getting more and more enticing, and it was such an exhilarating experience to reach the snow, which was still firm even when the temperature in the valley below had reached twenty-plus degrees C.
My favourite shots are those where the statue of Mary holding baby Jesus (peace be upon them) adds a spiritual dimension to the scene, balancing the peak of Veleta.
