Woodturning Spalted Curly Maple 3 Week Soak in Dye Experiment

Описание: In this wood turning video I show how I made an end grain wood bowl from this piece of spalted curly Maple. I think it makes for a beautiful piece of ornamental art for home decor.

Instead of using a moisture meter, I use the technique of taking weight readings over time. Here are the readings I got each day after removing the wood from the alcohol and dye mixture.
Day 1: 7.15 oz
Day 2: 6.25 oz
Day 3: 5.65 oz
Day 5: 5.40 oz
Day 7: 5.25 oz
Day 9: 5.20 oz
Day 10: 5.25 oz
Day 13: 5.00 oz
Day 15: 5.00 oz
Day 17: 5.05 oz
Day 20: 5.00 oz
Day 27: 5.00 oz

I used a spray clear shellac for sanding sealer and multiple coats of boiled linseed oil for the finish.
