This webinar explores the landscape of innovative open access publishing formats, especially those that go beyond traditional monographs. We look at their visibility, practical applications, and how they are currently assessed within research evaluation systems. Despite their growing importance, such outputs are often overlooked in traditional academic assessment frameworks.
Panellists for this webinar included:
Ioana Galleron – Professor of Digital Humanities at Université Paris III – Sorbonne Nouvelle and past Chair of the European Network for Research Evaluation in the Social Sciences and Humanities (ENRESSH).
Allison Levy – Director of Brown University Digital Publications and an art historian with a PhD from Bryn Mawr College.
Frédéric Clavert – Assistant Professor of Contemporary European History at the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH). Managing Editor of the Journal of Digital History.
Chair: Magdalena Wnuk - Open Science Officer at Digital Humanities Centre at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences
The panellists explore the following questions:
What types of experimental open scholarly outputs are the most popular and used?
What motivates or discourages researchers from pursuing them?
What institutional and cultural barriers prevent broader recognition?
How can academia evolve to better assess and reward innovative scholarly work?
