DDC Elections: Underestimated By BJP, Gupkar Alliance Sweeps Polls; BJP Still Single Largest Party

Описание: Almost a year after the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed its first democratic exercise in DDC polls. The polls that were conducted in the eight phases were mostly peaceful. The results for which were declared on 22nd December. The election assumed much importance as this was looked at as a sort of referendum on the Modi govt’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and Turn the J&K and Ladakh into union territories. It also was significant for the parties in the valley to see whether they still resonate with the masses in Kashmir or not.
