Despite semen analysis is commonly used for assessing reproductive disorders in males, it also provides crucial information about the general health condition of patients.
Since the 1980s, the Department of Reproductive Health and Research of the World Health Organization (WHO) has been publishing guidelines with detailed protocols and best practices for analysing semen in the laboratory. However, the methods of sperm assessment and the interpretation of results remain variable between countries.
In that talk, we talked about what’s new on the WHO 6th, how to optimize and standardize the methods for analysing semen samples by using CASA and how to do a good interpretation of results provided by the Sperm Class Analyser (SCA) CASA system.
