Here's how to see rare planet parade tonight

Описание: Six planets will be above the horizon at the same time Saturday evening in what is known as a planetary parade.

Despite the name, the planets aren't lined up in space. Rather, they all orbit the Sun on roughly the same flat plane, called the ecliptic, which from Earth appears as an arc across the sky.

Your best viewing window will be less than an hour after sunset, looking west. Remaining light, along with the topography of our mountains, can lead to some viewing difficulty from Asheville, since four of these planets will sit low on the horizon.

Venus will be the brightest and easiest to spot about 30 minutes after sunset. Mercury will sit nearby but sets around 7:24 p.m. and may be harder to see. Saturn will appear dimmer and low, and Neptune will require a telescope.

Higher in the sky, Jupiter will shine brightly toward the southeast and remain visible much longer. Uranus will also be higher but requires a telescope.

The Moon will also be shining brightly as it approaches the Full Worm Moon and total lunar eclipse on March 3, adding to the evening sky.
