Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 - Adventure - 5-1, 5-2, 5-P1, 5-3, 5-4, 5-5

Описание: Chapter 5 may look like a little stub in Primp Town, but there's more to it than that...as evidenced by the fact that I have "5-4, 5-5" in the title. And that it's called"To the Edge of Spacetime." This chapter is long enough that I had to split it in half, so here's the first half. There are actually fewer episodes in "Side A" than there are in "Side B" because the cutscenes themselves are longer, though honestly a lot of it is just filler. But we do begin with something important to the plot, and it's why we begin a new chapter here...

By the way, between the last Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 vide I put up and this one, the DLC set 2 has been added in. They consist of Yu & Rei, Serilly, Rafisol, and Possessed Klug. More on them when I actually show them.

5-1 - The Mysterious Boy

No, Amitie is not "The Mysterious Boy." Rather, right off the bat, we are shown a new character: Squares, who was watching over Marle the whole time and was responsible for her transition to Dark Marle. The power Marle had collected from people battling was getting siphoned to him. I'm sure you knew right from the start that Marle wouldn't be responsible for the whole thing by herself and that there had to be someone pulling the strings from far away--that someone is him. This is also our introduction to Fusion, which I find odd considering Party has not yet been introduced and I believe Fusion to be the most complicated, difficult to understand ruleset (and criminally underplayed online). Take note of Marle's and Squares's use of the words "fun" and "right." Those will be important later. Squares's influence over Marle, incidentally, is also why Dark Marle's attack animations involve, well, squares; and that Light Marle's attack animations are actually about the circles and spheres she speaks of.

Squares is voiced by Zeno Robinson. He is best known as the voice of Hawks in My Hero Academia and of Ogun in Fire Force. He is a new face to the anime dub voice acting scene--I believe this is his first villain role--but you may have seen his panel at the Virtual Anime Expo in July 2020.

5-2 - Worlds in Conflict

So we get some light on the situation here: Marle and Squares watch over dimensions, but they aren't actually supposed to interact. They have been doing so long before Arle's adventures even started. However, the worlds merging in Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 caused unusual things of interest to happen to them. Marle liked it, but Squares, who lives based on what's "right," found it horrible and offensive to his being, which is why he's taken action now. As Marle has failed in Squares's eyes, he's taken matters into his own hands: He deems everybody who has interacted with both worlds as anomalies and intends to erase them all...though if Squares's scheme of merging the worlds and then unmerging them doesn't make any sense, well, we'll get to that later too. Yeah, this battling is rather shoehorned in, but I guess every episode needs to have a battle in there somewhere for you to rack up a score, increase your Progress percentage, and get stars for your rank.

5-P1 - Let's Practice! Fever

Score 500,000 pts before reaching Level 30!
Meanwhile, Maguro and Risukuma are hanging out nearby practicing Fever Trial. This one's a piece of cake considering how much of this I've done--I've cleared the 3-star requirement with 43 seconds still on the clock out of the 60 you begin with. I'm no good with Puyo, bu I can at least spot chains when I see them (even if I'm not perfect at that.)

5-3 - The Dark Prince's Trial

This one actually gave me a LOT of trouble. That's because Dark Prince's Fusion dropset contains no Mega Puyos, which I rely upon for chaining. Arle's AI is no pushover either, which makes sense in-universe as she is quite emotionally invested to win this battle. Besides comparing power levels, there's only one purpose to this episode, which is to get the gang onto the SS Tetra to head over and meet Ex, which takes us to the SS Tetra map, where Chapter 5 continues. This is why Chapter 5 looks so dinky.

5-4 - A Beauty Pageant!? Round One!

Beat Draco Centauros!
And it's not just Arle, Amitie, Ringo, and Marle. It's everybody in the entire cast who isn't a secret character. And with the main characters making sure the cruise goes without a hitch, Ess has to host something for the secondary characters to occupy their time. The mood gets lighter here with a beauty pageant, which apparenly involves battling Draco Centauros, because that's how beauy pageants work.

5-5 - Who's the Most Handsome!?

No, Rulue isn't trying to compete in a handsomeness contest because she thinks she's super-handsome; she's fighting on behalf of Dark Prince, who might no even be aware it's all going on. Playing Swap under a time limi is honestly quite rough; it's not the fastest-paced of modes. If you don't finish Lemres off quickly, it will take ages.
