Stitch #13 - Colonial Knots. If you struggle with making French Knots, give this one a try! Some say this stitch was invented in Colonial America, when Candlewicking Embroidery was created by settlers. The knots are formed a little differently, and many people find them much easier. With thicker threads as used in Candlewicking, they have a unique texture. With finer threads used in traditional embroidery, the end result looks almost identical to French knots and can be used interchangeably. Why don’t you give both a try this week and let me know which one you prefer.

This series was originally recorded in 2018 as part of an online class. This video is part of an intermediate-level course for those who know some beginning embroidery stitches and would like to go further. In this series, you'll learn another 15 embroidery stitches, plus variations that will allow you to create borders, stems, leaves, flowers, and more. Look for new videos on the each Monday starting in April 2022.
If you’d like to access the full series of videos all at once in a classroom format, they are available at:

The online class contains both written and illustrated instructions for each stitch, a video tutorial, and links to examples on Pinterest. You have access to additional instruction from me via the classroom format and through an optional Facebook group. It also contains a full resource section, template downloads, and more.
