Serampore is a city in West Bengal situated on the west bank of the Hooghly river. It was a significant Danes settlement named Fredeniksnagore From 1755 to 1845. Today the city is known for its rich heritage and for housing the oldest college of modern education in Asia. On visiting Serampore one can notice little Denmark for its rich heritage lineage. Some of the historical Danes settlement which can be still seen are St. Olav Church, Denmark Tavern,Danes Cemetry and Serampore College.
