The Northumberland Line is a railway line that runs between Newcastle-upon-Tyne in Tyne and Wear to Ashington up in Northumberland.
Originally it was closed as part of the Beeching cuts, it reopened in December 2024 and since then, have proven to be a massive success. April 2025 had seen 250,000 passengers use the line, with latest estimates being 400,000.
With 3 stations still to open and the possibility of further extending it, this is a true success story.
I went to ride it, here's my video from it.
Numbers correct at the time of recording, announced recently that the line had 500,000 passengers in 8 months.
