Boilers have to withstand extreme pressure and stress. The swing of pressure will put the vessel and its material and construction to the test. The ASME or American Society of Mechanical Engineers sets regulations and standards that have to be followed for the construction and repair of these steam and hot water boilers. From the manways, tube installations, vessel construction, tube sheet, and all structural components the construction of a boiler relies on these welds.
