HMS Surrey is the British Tier VII heavy cruiser. The epitomy of design for Royal Navy cruisers of the 1920s. Like her predecessors, Surrey’s main battery consisted of eight 203 mm guns placed in turrets mounted in a super-firing position. The advantage that this project boasted was her armor protection, which perfectly matched the power of the cruiser's main battery guns. Presumably an improvement over the County-class cruisers to which Surrey was planned for IRL, this ship feels like a pretty average tier VII heavy cruiser in most respects. Played at-range, she can effectively troll red ships for incoming damage, while still getting the most out of her guns most of the time. While she won't tolerate concentrated incoming fire for long especially from battleships, her AP is more than capable of scoring citadels on broadside targets at middle ranges. Savvy captains will maximize her spotting aircraft and British repair party to fire from behind available islands while biding time for repairs. HMS Surrey has good turret traverse and main gun accuracy, in ABXY layout with decent firing arcs. Decent AA rating for her tier, especially when combined with the Defensive AA consumable and companion signal. Good concealment, compared to her tier. Good turret traverse - Expert Marksman not necessary most of the time, unless switching firing sides. Average HP, firing range, and muzzle velocity. When it comes to picking your commander skills is always based on personal play style, but, as with most cruisers, captains should focus on evasion, concealment, and other commander skills that reduce the chance/effects of incoming damage on performance.
