As a student, I saw a clip similar to the link below on the news. It interested me but I put it to the back of my mind.

Upon closer examination I saw that his flame appeared to simply be an RF arc forming at the top of the conductive vial of salt water. At which point I thought any RF power source that can energize a vial of salt water should be able to do this trick. Sure enough my Vacuum Tube Tesla Coil does the job.
It's a cool project that might have some interesting applications. However this phenomenon simply consumes RF power to produce flames. I did not observe any energy released from the salt water.
