Описание: Today we're counting down 10 killer classics from a special year in the 80s that were snubbed by mainstream radio. I’m talking about massive songs from some of the biggest musicians and bands of the era… that somehow never made the top 40. These are real musical mysteries —We’ve got the story of a remixed Don't Stand So Close to Me, that’s tied to what may be the most disastrous band reunion ever… including a broken collarbone and a 12-inch switchblade. As well as Boston's Cool the Engines, that was almost lost forever when its writer accidentally melted its master… Find out how he saved it. There’s also the AC/DC that pulled out of a 6-year slump with a massive record that a famous author fanboyed the band into doing for a B Movie. But it sold 5 million and outsold the movie! Then there was one of the biggest records of the year that landed Paul Simon on a hit list, and then years later, some would try to cancel it for Cultural Appropriation. Find out why. And finally, there was the song that iconic guitarist Johnny Marr of the Smiths wrote, and then declared it to be the best song he had ever heard in his life. But then he refused to release it as a single! Let’s get into it.

The story of AC/DC Highway to Hell and Who Made, Bon Jovi Never Say Goodbye from Slippery When Wet, Boston third stage including the Hot Amanda, Van Halen with Sammy Hagar and Eddie Van Halen on the album 5150 including Dreams and the Best of Both worlds, Paul Simon Graceland , Peter Gabriel So and Sledgehammer and Red Rain, The Smiths there is a light that never goes out, The police Don’t Stand so close to me.

The Police De Do Do Do De Da Da Da 86:    • The Police - De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da '86 ...

Hey Music Junkies. Let’s take the time machine to 1986 to count down the 10 best songs that were massive but never hits. At #10, starting things off, it’s Queen with Who Wants to Live Forever. Back in 1986, Queen was riding high off their monster Live Aid performance the year before—a show that reminded the world why they were one of rock's most electrifying acts. But instead of churning out another straight-up album, the band took a detour into scoring the cult fantasy flick Highlander. Director Russell Mulcahy, who'd seen what they did with Flash Gordon, screened some raw footage for the band. The guys dug it so much they decided to pen multiple tracks for the movie. Originally, the filmmakers just wanted one song, but Queen went all in: Freddie cranked out "Princes of the Universe," Roger delivered "A Kind of Magic," and Brian nailed "Who Wants to Live Forever.”

Who Wants to Live Forever was released as a single on September 15, 1986. And while it became one of Queen's most beloved power ballads and peaked at #24 in the UK, but it completely failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 here in the States. The song found its real success in Europe, and gained even more recognition after Freddie Mercury's death in 1991, particularly through Seal's powerful performance at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992.

In at #9, from their album Third Stage, it's Boston with Cool the Engines. We've talked about it before, but Boston's 3rd album, Third Stage was famously delayed by 8 years of studio headaches and band turmoil and a lawsuit with the record label that the band won! But when it finally arrived on September 24, 1986, it was a full-force event. The record went to #1 on the Billboard 200 on its way to selling 4 million copies in the US. It also kicked out 3 Top 20 singles on the Hot 100, starting with the #1 hit Amanda. We're Ready went to #9. And Can'tcha Say (You Believe in Me) reached #20.
