This International Women's Day meet 110-year-old Saalumarada Thimmakka, an environmentalist who planted 8000 trees and showed that how one fulfills motherhood is up to them.
Fondly known as the 'Tree Woman', she has planted over 8,000 trees in the last 80 years. She is known for growing about 400 Banyan trees on a 4-km stretch between Hulikal and Kudur, 45 km from Bengaluru.
After getting married, the couple faced flak for being childless even after 25 years of marriage. Then they tried an unusual way to deal with the sadness. They started planting nurturing, and watering trees and made the routine a part of their family. Watch and find out more.
