Originally the eastern defense line of Copenhagen on the Amager side of the water, especially shown by the recurring wedge-shaped buildings (by the hairpin turns,) the area is now a village-like neighbourhood.
At the end, the construction with the smokestack is the top of a combined wasteplant, ski slope and climbing wall.
