Dough: 1/2 canned coconut milk, 1/2 cup milk, 1 egg beaten, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 4 cups bread flour, 1/3 cup dried coconut, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 3 Tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon active dry yeast. Set aside (1/4 melted butter, 2 Tablespoons of granulated sugar aside.)
Cut dough in half and cut 6 strips out of each piece of dough. Form a rope 15' inches long. Curl the rope into a loose spiral. Tuck the end under to seal. Space apart on lightly greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for 30 - 35 or longer till they double in size. Apply butter over the tops and sprinkle granulated sugar. Bake at 425 for 12- 15 minutes Makes 12 Serve warm or cold with butter and preserves.
