▬▬▬▬ Video Transcript ▬▬▬▬
Hey everyone, it’s Matt! In this video, I’m going to show you how to disable auto updates for plugins in WordPress.
I’m currently in the back end of my WordPress site, specifically on my filmmaking lifestyle site. First things first, you’ll want to find the plugins section in your sidebar.
It might look a bit different from mine, but just look for the option labeled "Plugins." Once you click on that, you'll see all the active plugins that are currently running on your WordPress installation. Now, there are a couple of ways to disable auto updates.
Personally, I only have one plugin with auto updates enabled for this demonstration. I usually manage my 32 plugins manually because if something breaks, I want to catch it quickly.
If all plugins are set to auto-update, it can be hard to identify issues right away. To disable auto updates, start by selecting the plugins you want to modify using the checkboxes.
You can choose one, multiple, or even all of them. For this example, let’s pick just one plugin.
After selecting it, head to the top of the page and click on “Bulk Actions.” From the dropdown menu, select “Disable Auto Updates” and then hit “Apply.”
WordPress will process this, and just like that, the selected plugin will no longer auto-update. You won’t see a visual confirmation that it’s been disabled, but trust me, it’s done.
If you want to disable auto updates for all your plugins, it’s just as easy. Check the box at the top to select all plugins at once.
Then, go back to “Bulk Actions,” select “Disable Auto Updates,” and click “Apply.” This will turn off auto updates for all the selected plugins, meaning you’ll have to manually update them as needed. I hope this video has helped you understand how to disable auto updates for plugins in WordPress.
