Jig of Slurs by Pipe Major G.S. MacLellan
From Scottish musician Alex Monaghan in the Fiddle Tune Video Library where thisbeas the daily tune challenge yesterday:
“This is a Scottish pipe tune, by G S McLennan (1883-1929), but is widely played in Irish sessions too. It got its name from the very difficult gracenote sequences in the piping version, making it hard to avoid slurring some of the notes. Fortunately that’s not an issue in the Scots fiddle style, although if you play this in the Irish style with rolls you have a similar challenge!”
I’m not sure what style I’m playing but it was all I could do to hang on! 😅
