Golden Sunset Landings at London Heathrow Airport, Runway 09L | 28-09-18

After a week or so of some fantastic Autumnal weather, it couldn't be without a trip to any airport for a bit of evening spotting. With the easterly winds in favour we decided to head up to Heathrow to get some sunset landings on 09L. What a beautiful day for it too, the sunset was just priceless! Absolutely breathtaking to say the least, and to see some of my favourite machines grace them skies, it was just a fantastic experience!

We arrived around 3pm and stayed till about 15 mins after sunset, around 7pm. To begin with it was quite backlit, so the lighting wasn't ideal, but nothing bad and you can still see the aircraft perfectly fine, as the evening progressed though the lighting did get better! A good amount of movements about as well. A lot of the far eastern heavies were delayed due to storms in the Pacific, so that meant airlines like Korean, Air China etc arrived later than usual, and in lower light, I still filmed them regardless

There were also a few interesting movements that caught my eyes, one of which was the Atlantic Airways A320 operating for SAS, something quite rare to visit Heathrow, others included Etihad's year of Zayed livery on the A380, which I thought was pretty cool, a Lufthansa A320 NEO in the new livery, and an Air Astana 767, which rarely visits London, that for me was my personal highlight to see!

As usual, this is one of the best places around Heathrow to film from, and there is nothing I can do about the obstructing trees and posts, so please refrain from leaving your comments about them please! If I could go somewhere where there's no obstructions, I happily would but until then this will do
