Born on 27 January 1922 in Hyderabad, Ajit Khan's real name was Hamid Ali Khan. Hamid looked exactly like a hero. His dream was also to enter the film world. Leaving his studies midway, he ran away to Mumbai to become an actor. Ajit Khan played negative roles in most of his films and through this he created a special place for himself in the hearts of people. His famous dialogue ‘Sara Jahan knows me as lion’ and the dialogue ‘Mona Darling’ are still remembered well by the people.Jeet wanted to become a hero since childhood, but in earlier times, heroes and heroines were not considered good, so like all parents, Ajeet's parents also wanted their son to do some good work. But Ajit was fond of becoming a hero, so he ran away from home and came to Mumbai. He had left home, but he neither had any work nor much money. After which he started doing odd jobs to earn his living. In the year 1940, Ajit found a way to realize his dream and became a hero. After this he did many films but all of them flopped, after which he thought of becoming a villain.Ajit has played the role of villain not only in films but also in real life. When he came to Mumbai he had no place to stay. For a long time he used to live in a cement pipe. In those days, goons of the local area used to extort money from the people living in those pipes also. The one who gave money stayed, the one who did not give was beaten and sent away. One day goons came to Ajit to take money. They started threatening them that they would kill them if they did not give the money. Ajit got angry. And they beat up the goons. After doing this he himself became a goon. After this the people around also started getting afraid of him. Due to fear, they started getting free food and drinks and arrangements for accommodation were also made.अजीत ने अपने करियर में 200 से ज्यादा फिल्मों में काम किया है। जिनमें से ज्यादातर किरदार विलेन के ही थे। अजीत को असली पहचान साल 1976 में रिलीज हुई फिल्म कालीचरण से मिली। इस फिल्म में उनका डायलॉग ‘सारा शहर मुझे लॉयन के नाम से जानता है और, इस शहर में मेरी हैसियत वही है, जो जंगल में शेर की होती है।' ने हिंदी सिनेमा का 'लॉयन' बना दिया।
