Patient Case Study and Treatment Solution
Ms. Jensen Borroughs came to us for an AFO evaluation. She was post-surgery and had a bruised peroneal nerve resulting in an un-stable ankle with distal weakness that could benefit from a functional orthotic treatment. She was fit with an orthosis (brace) to cradle the plantar region of the foot, and to control the lazy foot drop motion into a more planter flexion position during gait swing.

When we completed the trial walk with Ms. Jensen-Borroughs, the video on the left shows you how the Dynamic Walk AFO® helps to stabilize her knee and ankle, improving her gait swing-through. This AFO will also improve her daily activities and reduce any left leg fatigue from improper gait.

Patient Conclusion
The treatment plan was to break-in the brace over the next week, and eventually wear it all day, especially while standing or ambulating. Over time the brace will help her strengthen her muscles and improve her stability.
