Correction: At 1:46 I say "...a pair of overhand loops..." when I meant to say "...a pair of overhand KNOTS"
A viewer got me thinking about non-jamming fixed loops, which prompted me to finally learn a Zeppelin Loop. The Zeppelin bend is a favorite of mine, as it strikes a near perfect balance of strength, security (even in relatively slippery modern cordage), and jam resistance. No matter how you load it, it comes undone easily!
If you were only going to learn one way to tie two ropes together, the Zeppelin bend would be a strong contender for knot to know!
As any seasoned knot enthusiast knows, every bend can be used to form one or more different loops. For the Zeppelin, there are two forms: one where the working end emerges across from the standing part, and one where it takes a 90 degree turn. In this video I show the first form. I'm sure I'll do one on the other form soon!
