The Royal British Legion launched its 2024 Poppy Appeal with events across the UK, commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day and honouring the service of Armed Forces members.
In Portsmouth, the appeal began with a symbolic arrival of poppies via a D-Day landing craft, accompanied by a Royal Marines band. This year's theme, “Every Poppy Counts,” emphasises supporting veterans and active service members, with funds going towards health, housing, and community resources for veterans and their families.
