Описание: In a decisive move to dismantle caste-based discrimination and ensure fair treatment across campuses, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued the (Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2026. This new framework aims to protect students, teachers, and staff from inequity in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across India, regardless of their SC, ST, or OBC community affiliation.

​Despite the visionary advocacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the constitutional safeguards provided under Articles 15(4), 330, 332, and 340, these communities continue to struggle for basic respect and dignity. Even after decades of anti-caste movements and government initiatives, the gap between policy and practice remains wide.

​The Edge team visited Delhi University to listen to the debate among students and young minds on whether caste identity and bias in the name of caste have any bearing on the day-to-day campus life.
