"Bara bada bastu, the Swedish-Finnish Culture as Finland’s Super Power" was one of the most interesting topics covered, a culmination of the spring's KAJ Phenomenon. The Finnish Swedish-speaking music and humor group and "Vörå's only boy band" that, coming from Finland and competing and winning in Sweden's #Melodifestivalen, quickly became a European phenomenon well before reaching the European Song Contest stage.
"For us it’s normal. We have Tove Jansson. We have Sibelius. They are Swedish speaking, but we feel that it’s our common heritage and common culture. But maybe from the outside, they don’t actually realize we have so strong multilingual culture in Finland. This is something that maybe came to forefront because of KAJ.
We see the multicultural and the multilingual culture as a richness. I think this is the most important message we have to send to the world. That this is a richness. Diversity is something we need to build on, our democracies and our world. It’s something that really needs to be cherished and not diminished."
