I hope you enjoy this snippet of our Nia class at Animas Studio.
Routine: AO (AlphaOmega: The Beginning and the End)
This is a retired Nia routine that Carlos Rosas created nearly 18 years ago. I have brought it back from the Nia vault as we move from the end of 2018 into the beginning of 2019. There are 5 measurements of fitness: Flexibility, Agility, Mobility, Stability, and Strength. The focus of the routine is "Stability & Mobility".
In AO, we play with stability some areas of the body so that other areas of the body may have freedom with mobility. There is a lovely balance of movement and stillness throughout this routine.
The music is from the album "A Different Space" by Bob Holroyd. (I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS MUSIC. Parts of this video may be muted due to music license.) It's very earthy and has a grounding quality. The choreography is simple and repetitive to give the sensation of stability in the moves so that the mind can be free to focus on expressing through mobility.
