There could have been very few people in football who were not genuinely sorry when Bradford City failed, at the final hurdle, to win promotion to the First Division in 1988 (then English football's top division). Even before the dreadful fire at Valley Parade which turned joy into tragedy some three years earlier, the City club was one which many neutrals held in great affection.
City, once a First Division club and the original winners of the present FA Cup trophy, were formed with the express intention of being a first-class side. Throughout their almost 100 year history, through good times and bad, they have been part of the backbone of the Football League.
In addition to the available football action (inc. the famous Cup victory of 1911), this video includes interview material with people who association with the club has been so important in its development. Past club managers like Trevor Cherry and Terry Dolan, successful players like David Jackson, Jimmy Lawlor and Stuart McCall and the club president Jack Tordoff. An unbeatable combination of excitement and nostalgia, tragedy and intrigue. A fascinating history of an enchanting football club.
Introduced and presented by Cec Podd.
