Advice from John – An Anything but Boring Merlot blend.

“You had me at Hell No” states the graffiti art label.

AND this Merlot is a “hell no” to prejudices and stereotypes surrounding specific grapes and wine styles.

Thanks to the release of the movie Sideways, this grape has been suffering for the last 20 years with a slump in Merlot sales and Merlot vineyards being grubbed up.

What’s in the bottle 🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇
A Merlot dominant blend with 77% Merlot being blended with Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache. However, Dave really wanted to show off Merlot which too often takes a back seat in blends.

What’s special about it: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The grapes come from four main vineyards and within those vineyards, there are a range of blocks – some from hillside sites and others from river bottom floors. Merlot is a bit of a chameleon and whereas the hillside sites enable it to taste tannic and intense like Cabernet, the cooler sites enable its racy acidity to be retained.

How does it taste: 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
Mulled dark plums and blackberries, dried orange peel, licorice spice and a succulent body seduce you instantly. The lingering mocha espresso bean finish is a satisfying touch and its juicy brightness will enable that second glass.
