Lausanne Switzerland is home to the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the seat of a several international sports federations. Lausanne is located on Lake Geneva in the French speaking region of Vaud, Switzerland. As one moves further from the lake, it's a rather hilly city with medieval, shop-lined streets and a 12th century Gothic cathedral as well as the 19th century Palais de Rumine that houses fine art and science museums.

The true beauty of Lausanne for travelers really does lie in the picturesque landscape of Lake Geneva as it sits amidst the Alps in the background. Early spring is a bit chilly on the lake, but not cold enough to deter tourists and locals from frequenting the lake - whether they were on evening runs, hanging out with family or simply people watching and enjoying the sites. I personally loved the serenity of it all. It was a Sunday when we arrived so the shops were closed so all we could really do was walk around and discover.

The view in the thumbnail of this video is one of my favorites and it was quite a departure from the hustle and bustle of the more cosmopolitan Geneva. This was a welcome change of pace for me, but also where I first felt a bit of traveler's fatigue. I didn't quite mind the down time since I knew that the next day would be pretty full with a several-hours-long wine tour, so it was quite nice to be able to relax for a bit after a busy morning checking out of our hotel in Geneva, lugging our luggage through the trains stations and into another hotel room. I don't think I ever truly unpacked as I knew that the day after the next, we'd be on our next train adventure to Grindelwald - which little did I know, would be life changing.

If you're watching this series and/or reading these descriptive blogs - then I hope this brings you to the same place of peace that I found amid the Alps and Lake Geneva. While we were quite literally on the move each day, I still felt a sense of peace and relaxation that I haven't felt in a long time. I think its time to start looking forward to planning the next trip. Hopefully you'll do the same!
