BABYMETAL held two sold-out headlining concerts at the Tokyo Dome on September 19 & 20, 2016, as part of their World Tour 2016, titled LEGEND - METAL RESISTANCE.
The shows attracted a combined audience of 110,000 fans, with 55,000 attending each night.
These concerts, named RED NIGHT and BLACK NIGHT, marked a significant career milestone for the band, culminating in the release of a live album and video called Live at Tokyo Dome.

Nights: The performances were split into two distinct shows:
RED NIGHT (September 19): Featured songs predominantly from BABYMETAL's second album, Metal Resistance.
BLACK NIGHT (September 20): Focused mainly on tracks from their first album.

The shows are considered a defining moment for the band, showcasing their growth and ability to fill one of Japan's largest venues.

BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii metal band that was formed in 2010, with the original lineup of Sumetal, Moametal and Yuimetal, with the concept of creating a fusion of heavy metal and Japanese idol genres.

Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances.

Originally a sub-unit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin, BABYMETAL became an independent act in 2013.

In late 2011, the girls gained their first prominent non-Japanese supporter: Marty Friedman, former guitarist of Megadeth, who had been living in Japan for several years and immediately realized the girls' fusion style had potential to make waves in music. He also happened to be one of two mentors for a guitarist named Takayoshi Ohmura (Kami band guitarist).

BABYMETAL released their debut album in February 2014. Their second album Metal Resistance was released worldwide on April 1, 2016. BABYMETAL has also embarked on several tours, with a majority of their tour dates taking place outside of Asia.

In 2014 Babymetal made their first (major) international debut at Sonisphere UK in front of 65K confused metalheads hearing them for the first time. This was an historical moment and cemented BABYMETAL on the international stage.

In October 2018, BABYMETAL announced that Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) had decided to leave the band due to poor health after having been absent from live performances since December 2017.

Since her departure, the band had performed as a duo, or with one or more backup dancers, at live performances. In 2019, the band introduced three backup dancers called "Avengers" who performed in rotation at each live show to form a trio with Sumetal and Moametal.

One of those dancers was Momoko Okazaki. In April 2023 Momoko joined BABYMETAL as the third core member under the stage name Momometal to form a trio again.
