ARCHIVE: Wrong-Way Driver Caught on Camera on Freeway; Wreckage Seen Moments Later Before FD Arrive.

This video shows a wrong-way driver caught on camera traveling against traffic on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in San Fernando. The footage was captured prior to the collision, followed by video of the crash aftermath moments later, before emergency responders arrived.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on the eastbound 118 near De Soto Avenue, where the wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with another car. Both vehicles were severely damaged and blocked three lanes, forcing traffic to stop as the Los Angeles Fire Department responded.

The wrong-way driver, identified only as a 30-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was also killed. A 25-year-old woman from Simi Valley was injured and transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

A SigAlert remained in effect until approximately 6:10 a.m., when all lanes were reopened.

Witness Carlos Huerta said he suffered minor cuts while helping the injured woman exit the vehicle, stating, “There was one person in the other car they said didn’t make it.”
