-- Gateway of India is a monument built by British raj in Mumbai to commemorate the landing of their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder, when they visited India in 1911. The monument marks the height of British imperialism. It is built inculcating the Hindu and Muslim architecture. The top being inspired from Islamic mosques and Bottom by Hemadpanthi style of architecture.

Exactly opposite to Gateway of India is the Iconic Taj 26/11 carnage. It was rebuilt within a year. These two monuments are the symbol of Mumbai.

Mumbai gateway is open now since 15-10-2020 after lockdown.


ELEPHANTA CAVES & FERRY RIDE | MUMBAI
Elephanta Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a collection of cave temples predominantly dedicated to Hindu god Shiva. Ferry ticket Cost Rs. 225/- (Both Bord and Debord) if you wanna ride in train you have to pay 10rs extra then rs5 then rs35.

They were named Elefante - which morphed to
Elephanta - by the colonial Portuguese when they found elephant statues on it. They established a base on the island, and its soldiers damaged the sculpture and caves. The main cave (Cave 1, or the Great Cave) was a Hindu place of worship until the Portuguese arrived
The earliest attempts to prevent further damage to the Caves were started by British India officials in 1909
The monuments were restored in the 1970s.In 1987, the restored Elephanta Caves were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is currently maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
