This week's ALDI grocery haul, plus how we make traditional Russian Mennonite verenike 2 ways!

RECIPES:
Verenike -
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 c. cream
Kneed until you have a stiff dough. Add flour as necessary
Cottage Cheese Filling:
1 1/2 c. DRY CURD cottage cheese
3/4 tsp salt
3 egg yolks
pepper
Stir together to combine.
Roll out dough about 1/8" thick and either cut into 3" squares or circles. Add filling to center of each piece of dough and fold into a triangle and seal with a fork or use a hand pie maker (ours is from Pampered Chef) to seal in semi-circles.
Drop into boiling water and boil for 7-8 minutes and serve with ham gravy or lightly fry in oil and serve sprinkled with sugar.
