Introduction and Small Talk
(+) called the student on time
(+) greeted the student enthusiastically
(+) has an agreeable tone of voice
(+) conducted small talk
(+) asked follow-up questions
(+) sent the correct URL of the material to the student without being asked
Lesson Proper
(+) appropriate speaking pace to the student’s level
(+) almost all, if not all, explanations given were correct, brief, clear, and prompt
(+) able to identify the student’s repeating mistakes
(+) corrections made were accurate and consistent
(+) praises given were varied
(-) seldom used the chat box as teaching aid
(+) used proper tone of voice: not condescending or discouraging
(+) ended the lesson on time
(-) did not cite the student’s strengths
(-) did not provide the student’s areas for improvement
Other comments:
(+) used proper Japanese honorifics
(+) used formal language
(+) did not do anything offensive or rude
(-) did not introduce any useful word/expressions
