The scientific name of the species is Caiman latirostris, and it is found in South America, particularly in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. As the name suggests, the broad-snouted caiman has a wide snout and a yellowish-colored throat, which is more pronounced in males during the breeding season. They are semi-aquatic and prefer to live in freshwater habitats, such as rivers, lakes, and swamps. Broad-snouted caimans are opportunistic feeders and will eat a variety of prey, including fish, amphibians, birds, and mammals. They are sometimes hunted for their meat and skin, which is used for leather products.







Piracicaba Municipal Zoo, Children's Paradise (03/21/2023).
It houses approximately 422 animals, including 283 birds divided into 70 species; 86 mammals divided into 30 species; and 53 reptiles divided into 10 species; as well as exotic animals. Enclosures were built to replicate their original habitats, ensuring the well-being of the animals.
Children's Paradise operates in an area of 23,000 square meters, adjacent to the zoo, all wooded where children find more than 30 toys, such as merry-go-round, slide, rocking horses, horizontal ladder, seesaw, swing, Tarzan's house, cabin, climbing, dollhouse, climbing wall, house of mirrors, labyrinth, castle, treehouse, Flintstones car, wooden motorcycle and colorful tunnels.
