As part of the University of Florida Science Journalist in Residence initiative, Nadia Drake will speak live in Pugh Hall on April 9, 2025 from 4-5 pm.
Drake is a science journalist who specializes in covering space exploration and the search for life beyond Earth. For many years, she was a contributing writer with National Geographic; most recently, she was the interim physics editor at Quanta Magazine, and she has written for numerous publications including Nature, The New York Times, Science News, and Scientific American. She holds a PhD in genetics from Cornell University and a graduate certificate in science communication from the University of California Santa Cruz.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to a reception immediately following the talk.
Her appearance is sponsored by the UF College of Journalism and Communication, the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, and the UF Office of Research.
