Recovering Guard from Half-Guard: Back to an Advantage
In this video, we look at two methods of working our way back to the guard from the half-guard. At its core, this is about recovering the integrity of our knee-line in order to manage distance and prevent getting flattened out on the bottom. We start with a quick overview of the basics of half-guard: leg positioning, shoulder positioning and arm placement. Then we look at using the knee-shield and the butterfly hook to create space on the bottom. From there, we have entries into some of our favorite open guard attacks.
