Описание: South of the Qaflankuh mountain range lies Zanjan (Persian: زنجان, Azerbaijani: زنگان), the capital of Zanjan Province in Iran. It lies on the main highway from Tehran to Tabriz and Turkey and about 125 km from the Caspian Sea. In the 2016 census its population was around 520.000, the 20th largest city in Iran, consisting mostly of Iranian Azeris who in their daily life speak the Azerbaijani language.


In ancient times, Zanjan was known for its stainless and sharp knives but this tradition is gradually declining due to the introduction of cheap Chinese-made knives into the market. Zanjan is known for its handcrafts, knives, traditional sandals (charoogh), and malileh, a handcraft made with silver wires.

The music on this footage was taken at the door of a chaykhana /also chaykhune/ and is sung in the Azeri language.
The chaykhana, a teahouse or tearoom in Central Asia, refers to a number of variations found in different countries; these include the shayhana in Kazakhstan, chaykhana in Kyrgyzstan and choyxona in Uzbekistan, all of which literally translate as "a tea room". Teahouses are present in other parts of Central Asia, notably in Iran and also Turkey. Such teahouses may be referred to, in Persian, as chay-khaneh, or in Turkish, çayhane or çay evi- literally, the "house of tea".
