Often the first foods we think of when we think of Japanese food is sushi, ramen, tempura or okonomiyaki, but actually one of the most eaten and loved foods in Japan, is curry!

While there are many variations of curry, and even in Japan you can eat Indian, Thai and other nationalities of curry, Japan has developed their own unique version too.

Curry was first introduced in the 1870s by the British (who were introduced first from India) and has since developed into something which is uniquely and specific to Japan!

It is now loved by millions of people in Japan, and 10 billions dishes of Japanese curry are made every year. Also many surveys asking Japanese people about their favorite dish, curry is often ranked as no.1 and no2.
