The National Trust Scotney Castle in Kent in Bloom

Описание: A look around the estate at Scotney Castle in Kent. This is the promised follow-up to our earlier visit to the house and gardens in the autumn.

Scotney Castle Estate is managed by the National Trust and consists of the old 14th-century castle and moat, the gardens, Scotney House and its walled garden.

We start just outside Scotney House as we head downhill through the gardens to discover Scotney Estates Giant Redwoods before looping around to find the old Boathouse. A walk around the moat to look at the castle from various angles. The old castle became the centrepiece of the 'Picturesque Gardens' created on the estate.

We then head to the courtyard in front of the old castle and wander through its ruins, and admire the beautiful planting.

A stroll back up the hill, though those Picturesque Gardens in their Spring/Summer colours, to the quarry. This unique feature of Scotney Castle is a wonder, an area not to miss.

After leaving the quarry, we arrive back at the 19th-century Scotney House. Passing through, we head to the courtyard and National Trust cafe

Our tour concludes with a look at the restored octagonal walled garden.
