Metal-Based Fuels: A New Path to Carbon Neutral Energy

Описание: Meeting global energy demand while reducing our carbon emissions remains one of the biggest challenges of our time. While renewable technologies like solar and wind play an important role in reducing our carbon footprint, new innovations are needed to store and transport clean energy efficiently—especially in off-grid or remote locations.

At Carleton University’s Energy and Particle Technology Laboratory, Professor Reza Kholghy and his team of graduate students are exploring how metal powders can be used as carbon-neutral or even carbon-negative fuels. With high energy density and the ability to be transported using existing infrastructure, these metal-based energy systems could offer a practical alternative to fossil fuels.

Working in collaboration with industry partners, their research is helping advance scalable energy systems that could one day power our communities and global industries.
