Описание: One of the most provocative acts that Jesus performed was on Palm Sunday. Through archaeology and the Apocrypha, we know palm branches were emblematic of the desire for national independence. The donkey was laden with messianic significance, dating back to King David’s day (and even Genesis). And the biblical texts associated with the day communicated clearly that a new King was in town, whose reign would extend much farther than Caesar ever dreamed of. In this video, Chad Bird explores everything from 1st century Jewish coins, to a text from 1 Maccabees, to various Old Testament passages to help us more fully understand the ramifications of Palm Sunday.
