Epstein Island, a series of alleged incidents of sexual abuse and prostitution that occurred on Little Saint James Island, privately owned by American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein from 1998 until his death in 2019.
Epstein developed the island into a luxurious vacation home, hosting wealthy and famous individuals from around the world. Allegedly, Epstein used the island as a place where underage children were subjected to sexual abuse and for prostitution.
In 1998, Epstein visited the island for the first time and purchased it for $7.95 million. After acquiring the island, he built facilities including a mansion, pool, tennis court, and helicopter pad.
Epstein’s parties on the island often included an exclusive guest list of wealthy and famous people. Attendees included politicians, businesspeople, artists, and celebrities.
In 2005, allegations surfaced that Epstein invited young girls to the island and made sexual advances toward them.
In 2008, Epstein was found guilty of sexually exploiting two young girls for prostitution and sentenced to 13 months in prison. However, his sentence was later reduced to seven months in jail and 18 months of supervised release as part of a plea deal.
In 2019, Epstein was arrested again, this time on charges of molesting and engaging in prostitution with minors in Florida and New York. He was held in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.
Epstein was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019. His death was officially ruled a suicide, although suspicions remain.
The Epstein Island case caused a major scandal worldwide and raised concerns about the potential involvement of the rich and famous in child sexual abuse.
