Tecbond shaped hot melt adhesives have expanded their stable of high performance glue sticks with a new Polyolefin based range of hot melt glue sticks designed specifically for the bonding of Polypropylene (PP) to itself and too other substrates.
Tecbond Polyolefin based glue sticks are unique hot melt adhesives with high molten tack (good instant grab ability) and provided excellent heat resistance and good low temperature resistance.
To maximise bond strength when bonding polypropylene to itself it is important that sufficient adhesive is applied and the surfaces are brought together as quickly as possible.
Video Transcript:
1."Today we will look at bonding Polypropylene or PP, which is used in a wide variety of
applications.
Polypropylene is one of those more versatile plastics available with applications, both as a plastic and as a fibre and until now Polypropylene has been traditionally difficult to bond with a hot melt adhesive!"

individual products with pull focus
2. "Here we have our range of Tecbond hot melt adhesives designed for the purpose of bonding
polypropylene. All of these adhesives can be applied by our range of Tec Glue Guns. With
polypropylene it's not one glue for one application. More ethylene in the PP as a general rule
means that it is more difficult to bond!"

3. "A standard hot melt adhesive would not be up to the job!" VO with onscreen graphic, MS (shoulder) shot of presenter gluing using standard hot melt
adhesive. CU shot of drop test.
4 "Let's get gluing. Here we have two pieces of polypropylene and we are going to create an
overlap bond using Tecbond 263"
WS Shot of presenter picking up polypropylene. MCU of Presenter applying glue to material, then compressing. WS of presenter then trying to pull apart the bonded material.
5. "Now let's try a butt joint using Tecbond 267'MCU shot of presenter picking up glue. WS of presenter preparing surfaces to glue. MCU of Presenter applying glue to material, then compressing.
6."As you can see, both glues are able to bond the polypropylene without failing." WS + CU of presenter doing a drop test of the bonded material.
7. "If you want to cover a large area of polypropylene you need to use the Tecbond 430 applied via a Tec 6300 or Tec 7300 spray tool." WS presenter bringing in large sheet of polypropylene. MCU of glue being sprayed over the surface. MS of Glue and Glue Gun,
8. The key to bonding polypropylene is to apply the glue hot. The hotter the glue the better the bond. You need to use a larger glue gun, get the glue down fast, bring the components together quickly and apply compression.
