The Strait of Hormuz is exploding. Three commercial vessels attacked Sunday. Fires burning on tankers. GPS jamming affecting 1,000+ ships. Major shipping companies fleeing the region.
This is Iran's retaliation for Operation Epic Fury strikes. Three direct hits: one explosion near Sharjah UAE, tanker hit above waterline north of Muscat causing fire, third ship northwest of Mina Saqr also burning.
Maritime expert: "Persian Gulf currently most dangerous place for commercial shipping. Ships threatened by Iranian attacks."
Twenty percent of world's oil and gas flows through this 21-mile chokepoint. Traffic already declining. Maersk diverting services. Tankers turning around.
Houthis threatening Red Sea attacks. No safe shipping route exists. Iran hasn't deployed naval mines yet but could close Strait completely.
